About

Born in the Netherlands, my family and I moved to Canada when I was ten years old. I've had a passion for aircraft from a very young age, and decided to pursue an education in aerospace science and engineering. After completing high school in Peterborough, Ontario, I enrolled in the Engineering Science program at the University of Toronto with a major in aerospace engineering (NΨ1T3 Aero + PEY). For my professional experience year (PEY) between years three and four, I worked for 16 months as an engineering intern at Messier-Bugatti-Dowty (now Safran Landing Systems) for the Boeing 787 landing gear program.

After undergraduate studies, I continued my education by pursuing my Master of Applied Science degree at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies (UTIAS). This was at the Dynamic Systems Lab under the supervision of Prof. Angela Schoellig. My research involved controlling a quadrotor drone under uncertainty in mass properties and unknown disturbances (Read thesis here).

Projects

From my first year of undegraduate studies until the completion of my Master degree, I have been a dedicated member of the University of Toronto Aeronautics Team (now the University of Toronto Aerospace Team). Over the years, I have worked on the design, fabrication and testing of numerous remote control aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles.
